Dylan Martin

Master Beekeeper / Founder / CEO

Dylan Martin founded Mill Brook Honey, LLC in 2014 when he was 14 years old.  He was asked to develop a business as part of a high school class through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) program.  He had also become aware of the vanishing honey bees and wanted to do something to help.  He started by asking his father to buy him a hive and learned beekeeping by speaking with local beekeepers, reading, and doing research online.

Dylan has won several awards for his business savvy and his efforts to save honeybees.  He won the NFTE competitions at the School and Regional levels and finished in the top 10 at the National NFTE Competition.  Dylan was selected as an NFTE Global Entrepreneur of the Year and was honored by Ernst & Young as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the New York Region.

Dylan is a member of the CT Beekeepers Association and maintains 20+ hives throughout Fairfield County, CT.

In 2019, Dylan completed the Master Beekeeper course through the University of Montana and is a Certified Master Beekeeper.  He is currently a student at Virginia Tech pursuing a degree in Business Management.

Tim Martin

Proud Dad / Master Beekeeper

Tim is a Certified Master Beekeeper.  He completed the University of Montana Master Beekeeping program in 2019 and has been keeping bees in Connecticut for nearly 10 years.  He takes care of the bees and the customers when Dylan is away at school.  Tim is a science teacher at Stamford High School where he also runs the Beekeeping Club.  He is working with local universities to develop a curriculum for beekeeping classes.  These classes will soon be available for college credit.  In addition, Tim is writing a book based on published scientific data for backyard beekeepers to help them make appropriate decisions for their bees by separating the facts from fiction and folklore.
