Meet the Beekeepers
Dylan Martin
Master Beekeeper / Founder / CEO
Dylan Martin founded Mill Brook Honey, LLC in 2014 when he was 14 years old. He was asked to develop a business as part of a high school class through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) program. He had also become aware of the vanishing honey bees and wanted to do something to help. He started by asking his father to buy him a hive and learned beekeeping by speaking with local beekeepers, reading, and doing research online.
Dylan has won several awards for his business savvy and his efforts to save honeybees. He won the NFTE competitions at the School and Regional levels and finished in the top 10 at the National NFTE Competition. Dylan was selected as an NFTE Global Entrepreneur of the Year and was honored by Ernst & Young as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the New York Region.
Dylan is a member of the CT Beekeepers Association and maintains 20+ hives throughout Fairfield County, CT.
In 2019, Dylan completed the Master Beekeeper course through the University of Montana and is a Certified Master Beekeeper. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech University with a degree in Business Management. Dylan completed a summer internship in Hawaii with Big Island Bees, where he learned to breed and raise Saskatraz Queen bees.
